Paul E. Bachand
Paul Bachand is a native of Rapid City, South Dakota and graduated from Saint Martin’s High School. Bachand received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Montana in 1989 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law in 1992. He served as a Brown County Deputy State’s Attorney in 1992 and a Hughes County Deputy State’s Attorney in 1993. Bachand transitioned to the South Dakota Attorney General’s office and served as an Assistant Attorney General from 1993-2002. He then worked as an Assistant United States Attorney from 2002-2004. Bachand joined the Law Firm in 2005.
Bachand’s practice focuses on civil law, business transactions, and agency representation. He serves as Special Assistant Attorney General, representing state agencies. He is the Executive Director for the South Dakota State’s Attorneys Association.
Bachand also excels in legislative practice and lobbying. He serves as the voice for his clients before the South Dakota Legislature and has many successes in both passing laws as well as opposing them. He is licensed to practice in both state and federal court. He has successfully argued cases before the South Dakota Supreme Court.
Bachand is an avid outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys downhill skiing, water skiing, mountain biking, hunting and fishing. In his free time, he manufactures downhill snow skis with his son.
Edward S. Hruska III
Edward S. Hruska III
Edward Hruska is a South Dakota native. Edward received his undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University in 2011, and his Law Degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2014. He was admitted to the South Dakota State Bar in 2014, is an accredited attorney to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs in 2014, and was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota in 2015. Immediately following law school, Edward clerked for the circuit court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
Edward’s military career began with his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps in 2002. While in the Marines, he was deployed for two separate tours of duty to Iraq and the Middle East. After his honorable discharge in 2006, he reenlisted, and currently serves as a Major in the Judge Advocates General’s Corps with the South Dakota Army National Guard.

Edward and his wife, Katie, have one son and have made Pierre their home. Edward is a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the American Legion (Post 8), and serves on the Veterans Committee of the State Bar of South Dakota. For fun, Edward enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, and motorcycling.
Grant Flynn is a native of Winner, South Dakota. He graduated from Winner High School in 2002. After high school, Grant attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he earned a Bachelor of General Studies degree, majoring in Political Science. From there, Grant earned his Juris Doctorate from the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas.
Grant began his career serving as in-house counsel to the South Dakota Department of Human Services where he worked from 2012-2015. Grant then joined the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office as an Assistant Attorney General, where he served in the Appellate, Criminal Litigation, and Civil Litigation Divisions. Grant is currently licensed to practice in the State of South Dakota, the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Grant has been married to his wife, Erin, since 2012. They have two sons, Tristan and Sean. In his free time, Grant enjoys hiking, fishing, and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Jenna Schweiss has been a South Dakota resident her entire life and is a native of Pierre. After graduating from high school in 2013, Jenna attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she graduated early with a Bachelor of Science Degree, having majored in Fisheries and Wildlife and several conservation-related minors as well. After deciding to take her undergraduate education in a different direction and come home to South Dakota, Jenna earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2020. While in law school, she took many courses emphasizing in environmental and agricultural law, tax planning, trusts, wills, and estate planning, as well as non-profits, business organizations, and administrative law.
Jenna has prior employment experience with the South Dakota Legislature, the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office, the Department of Agriculture, Game Fish and Parks, and the Department of Transportation, as well as other state and federal agencies. She is pleased to join the firm of Bachand & Hruska P.C. in the private practice of law and is licensed in the State of South Dakota.
In her free time, Jenna enjoys being active in her church, volunteering in the community, hunting, fishing, hiking, and enjoying all the wonderful outdoor opportunities our great state has to offer, and spending quality time with family and friends.
